Job Description

Park Place Retirement Community in the Ottawa area is seeking the services of an experienced Activity Manager to design and implement cultural, physical, intellectual, educational, spiritual, social and special interest activities based on resident’s

interests and preferences.

As an integral member of the management team, you will report to the General Manager.

You will welcome and assess the interests of new Residents to encourage their participation in activities in the Retirement Community.

You will create a monthly calendar of events with resident input and will log and track resident participation and adjust the calendar accordingly.

You will recruit and supervise volunteers and mentor team members of the Activity Department team.

You will create an atmosphere that encourages innovative ideas from the team and encourages resident participation by effective communication to all staff, residents and their families through a monthly newsletter and calendar of events. You

will also be responsible for providing assistance to the Resident Council.

Job Description: 

Performs duties involving the implementation and planning of events and activities with direction from the Recreation Manager, which meet physical, mental and psycho-social needs and interests of the residents.

Duties and Responsibilities: The employee is required to be able to perform the essential functions of the job with minimal supervision. The following functions are considered essential to this position:

• Responsible for the planning and implementation of activities that meet resident’s specific needs, including large groups, small groups, and individual participation.
• Maintain documentation as required by RHRA regulations
• Assist with Resident activity assessments and evaluations.
• Tend the Bar during Happy Hour
• Lead group fitness classes.
• Escort Residents on outings when needed
• Front Desk coverage.
• Will be expected to participate in Department in-service training.

Qualifications:

• Red Seal
• Certification in Food Preparation designation from accredited school
• Minimum 3 years experience in retirement, hospital or hotel setting in volume food preparation
• Experienced baker of bread, cookies and desserts
• Knowledge of special and therapeutic diets
• Familiar with weights and measurements, recipe conversion and portion control
• Completion of Safe Food Handlers Certification course
• Knowledge of Ontario Food Premises Regulation and Canada’s Food Guide
• Ability to work within and promote a team environment
• Must enjoy working with Residents
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Must be able to read, write and understand English
• Highly organized and able to work independently
• Is a competent person as defined by the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• A valid security police check is required.
• Must be available to work nights, alternate weekends and special occasions

We are looking for a UCP to provide medication distribution, personal care, housekeeping, and laundry services for seniors in our Promenade retirement community. He/she will possess current CPR and will be able to work various shifts (days, evenings, nights and weekends).

We are looking for a responsible driver/chauffeur for our residents. You will represent our company in a professional manner aiming increasing customer satisfaction. You will also be responsible for the delivery of items between campuses as required.

Are you passionate about food? We are looking for a cook and prep cook who can prepare and serve nutritional meals according to the selected menu, monitor food handling, clean equipment, and has the ability to follow directions and dietary orders.

We are looking for a Registered Massage Therapist with 1 or more years of experience and applied knowledge of the senior population. The successful candidate will have competency in various types of massage techniques combined with exceptional customer service skills. Must have your own insurance and a vulnerable sector police check.
