We are looking to fill the part time position of Recreation Worker in our seniors’ facility. The hours are 11:30am-6pm Saturday and Sunday, and 4:30-8:30pm one evening per week (to be determined). This person has the responsibility of organizing and implementing recreational activities for residents, both onsite and offsite, that address their physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs. This will include planning, promoting, implementing, and seeking resident input. This person will also serve a small section at meals and respond to resident pendant alarms. The evening shift involves taking the residents to the grocery store. This enthusiastic, caring, positive, and professional person will have a love for seniors, excellent communication skills, proficient computer skills, and be very organized.
Applicants must have experience with Seniors and with leading and implementing activities for people with varying abilities. Applicants must also have or obtain a Criminal Record Check clearance, valid class 4 unrestricted driver’s license (must have more than “N” currently to qualify for class 4), CPR/ First Aid, and Food Safe once employment is offered.
The wage is $15.64 per hour plus sick and vacation time once probation is completed. This position requires Union Membership – BCGEU Local 301 and is open to both male and female applicants.
