QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Registered Nurse, in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification
Background:
- Minimum of three years’ related experience, preferably in retirement industry
- Excellent nursing assessment skills
- Knowledge of business equipment and computer applications, such as MS Office, Yardi, payroll processing software, etc.
Personal Requirements:
- Work as part of a team
- Capable of adapting to different situations and change
- Keen interest in working with seniors
FUNCTIONS:
- Plans, develops, organizes, implements and evaluates overall quality of resident care by the nursing department;
- Establishes and develops job routines and performance evaluations criteria which delineate job responsibilities and expectations;
- Responsible for all aspects of human resources within the nursing department, including: interviewing, hiring, training and evaluating staff;
- Ensures all members of nursing department are knowledgeable and aware of regulations, policies and procedures;
- Preparation and management of the nursing services budget, according to Riverstone RC policy;
- Ensures all residents’ assessments and care plans are updated and revised on on-going basis, according to RHA requirements.
- Ensure all care plans are developed thoroughly and utilized by all care staff that are responsible to provide care to residents;
- Ensures the residents’ family, physician and management team are informed of changes in residents’ condition and needs;
- Ensures all Infection Control, Falls Prevention, Outbreak Management, Behaviour Management programs are in place, communicated to the nursing team and maintained as per Riverstone RC policy and in compliance with RHA and other legislative bodies;
- Responsible for delivery of orientation and training program in accordance with RHA and other legislative bodies;
- Completes QA audits, inspections and reports;
- Assists and contributes to staff development and education;
- Participates in residence committees and encourages nursing staff to do the same;
- Ensures all Registered Staff orders, administers and stores medications and treatments in compliance with the Riverstone
- Retirement Communities policies, pharmacy and standards of the College of Nurses
