Key Responsibilities
- To act as a liaison with suppliers;
- To be responsible for verifying receipt of goods against purchase orders;
- To be responsible for budget and purchasing for the department;
- To fulfill necessary administration duties including staffing and scheduling department resources;
- To recruit, train and performance manage housekeeping personnel;
- To be responsible for orientation of new personnel;
- To be aware of the Resident Rights & Responsibilities and endeavor to respect and promote it;
- To attend in-service education in order to keep informed of current trends in the total care of the elderly;
- To participate in team meetings to plan programs with the resident's interests in mind;
- To participate in the Quality Improvement Program;
- To participate in Multi-Disciplinary Quality Assurance/Risk Management Programs;
- To work in a position of trust with vulnerable adults (residents);
- To uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in Revera’s Code of Conduct;
- To complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled or certified in a Housekeeping program recognized provincially. (OHA / OHHA)
- Previous experience in a Retirement Residence / Long-Term Care setting
- Knowledge & experience with standard institutional cleaning techniques
- Previous experience in commercial / residential cleaning and laundry operations
- Leadership skills and experience managing a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills, as well as flexibility, interpersonal skills and creativity
- Current & maintenance of CPR certification is required
- Experience in ORCA accreditation is considered an asset
- Must diligently pursue the goal of providing quality care while maintaining high standards of service
- Knowledge and experience with computer usage and Microsoft office applications
- Must have knowledge of WSIB and WHMIS
- Cost control experience is considered an asset
- Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset
- Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
