Key Responsibilities
- To ensure Revera Retirement policies, procedures, processes and systems are in place, being adhered to and being monitored
- To ensure resident satisfaction specific to Recreation programming
- To ensure the quality of recreation, wellness and leisure services are in compliance with professional, regulatory, legislative and / or organizational standards
- To plan, develop and facilitate meaningful recreation / leisure programs
- To ensure residents are aware of recreation / leisure opportunities available to them by creating and distributing monthly recreation calendars and newsletters
- Under the guidance of the Executive Director, participate in the development of the Residence’s annual operating or business plan, marketing plan (if applicable) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)
- To operate within the recreation budget and plan as directed by the Executive Director
- Grow and maintain an active volunteer program to support community needs;
- To escalate resident or family complaints to the Executive Director if beyond the scope Recreation Aide (Recreation Coordinator)
- To ensure appropriate supply and maintenance of all recreation equipment and supplies are in compliance with Revera policies, practices and standards and in compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, while maintaining budget requirements
- To maintain appropriate documentation including assessments and attendance
- To promote Resident autonomy, independence and advocacy, including Residents’ rights and a culture of non-abuse
- To uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in Revera’s Code of Conduct
- To perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Community college recreation diploma in wellness, exercise, recreational therapy or a related field
- Previous experience in working with seniors or in an adult wellness program
- Knowledge of community resources, service development
- Leadership skills, experiencing managing staff or volunteers is an asset
- Current certification in CPR/first aid
- Certification in wellness interventions an asset
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications
- Effective oral and written communication skills to respectfully and compassionately work with older adults and their families
- Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS).
