Resident Wellness Manager (FT), Job offer in Waterloo, Ontario

Job description

Responsibilities Include:

  • Manages in accordance with all industry and regulatory compliance agencies, the Ontario Retirement Communities Association, The Retirement Homes Act 2010 and O. Reg 166/1, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Fire Code, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and other pertinent legislated regulations/ standards.
  • Knows and interprets Corporate and Residence policies, procedures and practices and communicates these to the appropriate personnel.
  • Prepares and manages the Department and Capital budgets according to the Residence’s policies and procedures. Codes and sends departmental invoices through the electronic Docuware system for approval and payment.
  • Actively participates in positive labour relations within the Retirement Residence to build strong working relationships with all employees. Works collaboratively with all departmental and Corporate teams in order to foster employee engagement and resident satisfaction. Maintains good working relationships with all team members.
  • Responsible for the selection, placement, promotion, on-boarding and transfer or termination of team members according to the Residence's policies and procedures. Reviews and approves position descriptions and department specific job routines.
  • Prepares time and work schedules, assigns duties on the basis of work priorities and availability of team members, redistributing the team’s resources where necessary, checking attendance, maintaining accurate time and attendance records and payroll records.
  • Participates in the Manager On Duty (MOD) rotational schedule.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • A current certificate of competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Knowledge of relevant government legislation and standards.
  • Self-directed and team-oriented, with strong organization and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstration of leadership and coaching skills. Supervisory experience in recruitment, policy implementation, and health and safety standards.
  • Must provide documentation to support a Tuberculosis Skin Test (TST) or Medical Note from Physician stating free from infectious disease.
  • Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in organizational management in residential care.
  • Knowledge of Ontario Residential Care Association standards and programs
  • Good organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
