Personal Care
- Through the application of biological, psychological and social sciences, and a basic understanding of the disease process, the RPN is competent to deliver care to our residents at their designated level of skill
- Assist with ADLs such as elimination, mobility, social functioning and personal hygiene
- Undertakes observation, reporting and recording of such care
- Communicates information to the appropriate members of the wellness team
- Is knowledgeable of the emergency procedures for the community
- Applies the principles of infection control
- Applies the principles of healing process, skin integrity and aseptic techniques
- Collaborates and plans with other team members to address health outcomes for residents
- Possesses the skills (assessment, interviewing, counseling and writing) to meet the health needs of our residents
- Remains calm in a crisis situation and is able to assess and organize the situation for the best outcome
- Identifies interventions appropriate to the situation
- Continually assesses residents to ensure the clinical presentation matches the diagnosis and predicted outcome. Monitors deviations from expected health outcomes and adjusts plan of care accordingly.
- Recognizes when it is appropriate to obtain the opinion of another health team member for the well being of our residents
Customer Service
- Follows up on all resident and family enquiries (takes accountability to ensure reply is given)
- Fulfills commitments in a timely and responsive manner
- Provides services in such a way that problems in unpredictable events are invisible to the resident and family
Other considerations:
- You must pass a Vulnerable sector back ground check.
- You must be able to work with Dogs and Cats and other animals, allergies or other needs cannot be accommodated.
- Due to our high level of residents with dementia; your tattoos and piercings must either remained covered by clothing or are discrete. Any other external body decoration, including hair, must not be frightening to a frail senior with dementia.
- You must be legally allowed to work in Canada.
- You must be in good physical health as this job requires lifting, sitting, standing and walking.
- Must be able to read and write in English to a minimum High School Level.
- Available on call and in emergency situations.
