Job Description

Park Place Retirement Community in the Ottawa area is seeking the services of an experienced Activity Manager to design and implement cultural, physical, intellectual, educational, spiritual, social and special interest activities based on resident’s

interests and preferences.

As an integral member of the management team, you will report to the General Manager.

You will welcome and assess the interests of new Residents to encourage their participation in activities in the Retirement Community.

You will create a monthly calendar of events with resident input and will log and track resident participation and adjust the calendar accordingly.

You will recruit and supervise volunteers and mentor team members of the Activity Department team.

You will create an atmosphere that encourages innovative ideas from the team and encourages resident participation by effective communication to all staff, residents and their families through a monthly newsletter and calendar of events. You

will also be responsible for providing assistance to the Resident Council.

Responsibilities:

• Preparing and serving the residents in our community
• Ensuring all special dietary needs are met and preparing texture modified food as directed
• Following the specially prepared Sunrise menus and production sheets to maintain the highest possible quality and consistency
• Ensuring compliance with all record keeping, food safety and risk management requirements

Responsibilities:

• Overseeing and leading the food production and food presentation operations

As a Concierge your typical day will impact in the following ways:

• Responding to all resident and visitor enquiries as their first priority in a diplomatic manner, utilizing problem solving and complaint resolution skills and ensures all complaints are forwarded to the General Manager in writing.
• Promoting excellent customer service in all personal interactions with visitors, families, residents and team members.
• Greeting all visitors to the building and ensures that their needs are addressed ina pleasant and unhurried fashion and conducts mini tours in accordance withpolicies and procedures.

Under the direction of the Sous Chef, you will be responsible for the cleanliness of all kitchen equipment and utensils. You will support the cooks with meal preparation and presentation. You will clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment and utensils, including floors, walls, and storage rooms, and assist with meal preparation and presentation, according to established methods and guidelines.  You will support the kitchen team and contribute to the fine dining standard for food quality and presentation; promote health and safety in the workplace, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation; and support all staff to recognize and prevent unsafe acts in the workplace. 

A day in the life of a Resident Care Partner (Personal Support Worker)

As the Resident Care Partner you are responsible for assisting residents with activities of daily living, including personal, physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and recreational needs

A day in the life of a Registered Practical Nurse:

As the Registered Practical Nurse you are responsible for providing direct nursing care to residents, including providing direction and guidance to residents in the provision of activities of daily living and programs developed to enhance the psychological, social, spiritual and recreational needs of residents.

As the Resident Care Partner you are responsible for assisting residents with activities of daily living, including personal, physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and recreational needs. 

Job Summary:

Registered Nurses will provide professional nursing consultation services on a wide variety of nursing issues related to the care of older adult clients. You will promote programs to meet community needs, and provide exceptional nursing care to clients and caregivers in the community by applying VON Branch philosophy, policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Provide and manage high quality and appropriate nursing care to all individuals and/or families in the community who are assigned to their care
• Responsible to teach and delegate tasks and functions to different levels of workers and to family members and others in accordance with the standards and scope of practice as determined by VON and the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Comply with all standards, policies, procedures and legislative requirements
• Participate as a member of the health care team in relevant committees and working groups

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintains competency including the ability to interpret current applicable standardized assessment tools such as the interRAI CHA.
• Completes client assessments in the home using conversation based methodology.
• Develops and conducts a comprehensive therapeutic rapport.
• Utilizes technology in the home to complete comprehensive assessments.
• Identifies and prioritizes environmental risk for client’s health and safety (shelter, food and running water, temperature control and overall condition of living environment).
• Develops a comprehensive care plan (interpreting the CAPs and care planning).
• Facilitates access to client identified services to support the care plan and goals.
• Makes referrals to community and health resources as required
• With client consent, consults with partners in care service plans to ensure shared understanding of client needs and appropriate interventions/services to meet those needs.
• Monitors client progress and adjusts care plans as required
• Reviews client care plan expenditures and supports clients to manage within the budgets
• Accesses and reviews assessment via the IAR (integrated assessment record).
• Collects and reports relevant data to Manager when necessary.
• Adheres to the prescribed privacy policies and standards for Community Support Service agencies including VON.
• Positively and professionally represents all CSS agencies and service providers.

Job Summary: 

You will provide safe, client-centered health care in the Health Clinic using the nursing process, scope and standards of clinical practice established by VON and the College of Nurses of Ontario and principles of quality management. You have the opportunity to contribute to VON’s responsibility for developing programs to meet community health needs.

Knowledge & Skills Requirements:

• Completion of a two year community college culinary course or equivalent.
• Previous experience in large quantity food preparation.
• Must have at least four (4) years cooking experience.
• Computer proficiency skills.
• Strong written and oral English communication skills.
• Knowledgeable in Health and Safety and Public Health regulations.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) is accountable for the provision of optimum care services based on legislative requirements and the organization standards, policies and procedures and assumes responsibility for oversight of the guest attendants. This role may also assist with dining service, recreation program support and common area housekeeping in varying locations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain accountability for the nursing and personal care of residents within the scope of training and license.
• Administers medications as prescribed in accordance with pharmacy policies & procedures and observes changes in condition and reports them to the Director of Wellness.
• Facilitates problem solving of resident / family concerns or complaints that arise and ensures complaints are communicated to the Director of Wellness / General Manager.
• Oversees the Guest Attendants to ensure that care assignments are completed and that changes in residents needs are reported to the Director of Wellness.
• Monitors team member compliance with the policy on monitoring resident well-being and ensures follow-up is completed as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
