Responsibilities

• Reviews regular and therapeutic menus and sets up equipment and supplies for food preparation. Prepares food and nourishments including evening meal, following standardized recipes and production sheets.
• Provides for prescribed diets, including variations in texture. Ensures meals are served on time, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities.
• In the absence of the Dietary Supervisor, decides on menu changes as necessary and ensures that changes are recorded following department procedures.
• Monitors quality and quantity of food supplies ordered, proper operation of kitchen equipment and alerts Supervisor of problems. Recommends corrective action.
• Directs Dietary Aides in basic food preparation procedures and in serving activities at meal times.
• Assumes responsibility for routine departmental operations in the absence of the Dietary Supervisor which may include staff replacements and making Maintenance or Charge Nurse aware of malfunctioning equipment.
• Maintains all required records such as menu changes, delivery receipts, temperature checks; cooperates with other departments to meet resident needs.

We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our Culinary team to provide a high quality dining experience for our residents. You will prepare meal items following standardized recipes and prescribed diets, at appropriate temperatures and in portion controlled quantities; follow legislative requirements (e.g. Public Health, R.H.A), Company policies and procedures for sanitation, safety, and quality; assists with daily cleaning duties and monthly food inventory count.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist in the planning of the recreational activities relating to emotional, physical, intellectual, spiritual and social needs; facilitate activities and exercise programs
• Assist in the creation of the monthly calendar, newsletter, posters and notices regarding activities and programs as required
• Covering the Concierge for breaks

Responsibilities

The successful candidate's responsibilities include:

• Contribute to the development of the care plan for each client admitted to the Adult Day Program
• Implements, evaluates and revises care plans on an ongoing basis in collaboration with the family/caregivers and multi disciplinary team
• Collaborates with the Recreational Therapist in planning and implementing social and recreational programs
• Participates in group activities to stimulate mobility, language, reminiscing, group identity and listening skills of clients
• Assist clients with ADL as required ( toileting, personal hygiene, assistance with the administration of medications utilizing the medication system of the program
• Collaborates with the multi disciplinary team to identify risk factors and introduce interventions to minimize and eliminate client incidents  Ensures safety and security measures for the client, volunteers and staff

The Food & Beverage Manager is accountable to manage all aspects of the food and beverage department through effective planning, direction and control, to meet the nutritional needs of the residents in accordance with legislative requirements and the organization standards.
 
Key responsabilities (but not limited to):

• Plans, co-ordinates, directs, and monitors the effectiveness of all food and beverage activities in the residence to meet the organization and Hospitality Style Dining Service expectations.
• Develops and conducts in-service programs and ensures all staff is trained in safe food handling techniques.
• Recruits, supervises, coaches and mentors departmental employees.
• Oversees all expenditures to ensure the department operates within budgetary guidelines and takes action on variances to bring expenditures in line with budget.
• Acts in a leadership capacity to foster good working relationships with relevant persons within Public Health.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Food Services Manager, Chef, Lead Cook, or Cook 2, the Cook is responsible for the daily production, delivery and service of items from a designated menu, maintenance of a safe sanitary workplace, and participating in the smooth operation of the department.

This position is 30 hours per week.

Rotation: Wednesday and Thursday - 11:30AM - 7:30PM + Saturday and Sunday - 9:00AM -5:00PM.

6. Promotes and maintains positive communication and relationships among management, staff, residents, and the public.
7. In the absence of the Food Services Manager/Chef/Lead Cook, or Cook 2 the Cook, is responsible for the supervision of department production and service, staff, including direction of staff, interdepartmental communications, and emergencies.
