Job Summary:

Provides prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to ill, injured, convalescent, and handicapped persons in the long term care or assisted living setting. Takes and records resident vital signs. Dresses wounds, gives enemas, douches, alcohol rubs, and massages. Applies compresses, ice bags, and hot water bottles. Observes resident and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel in charge. Administers specified medication, orally or by subcutaneous or intermuscular injection, and notes time and amount on resident chart. Assembles and uses such equipment as catheters, tracheotomy tubes, and oxygen suppliers. Collects samples, such as urine, blood, and sputum, from residents for testing and performs routine laboratory tests on samples. Sterilizes equipment and supplies, using germicides, sterilizer, or autoclave. Prepares or examines food trays for prescribed diet and feeds residents. Records food and fluid intake and output. Bathes, dresses, and assist residents in walking and turning. Cleans rooms, makes beds, and answers resident call lights. Washes and dresses bodies of deceased persons. Must pass state board examination and be licensed. May inventory and requisition supplies. Documentation capability with accuracy and understanding of facility, state and federal regulations and policies and procedures. May start and monitor IV’s with appropriate accreditation and licensure.

Maintain a home like, person centered care environment for all residents. Effectively supervise all staff responsible for resident care. As an interdisciplinary team member and supervising others to meet the physical, psychological, and social needs of the resident.

Responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an activity program designed to meet the social, spiritual, intellectual, emotional, educational and physical needs and interests of our residents. Works closely with residents, family members, volunteers, facility staff and community representatives.

Critical Functions:

Plans, organizes, facilitates and directs recreational activity programs for resi-dents in assisted living facility. Prepare for events by obtaining and organizing necessary materials for activities. Directs and organizes such activities as sports, dramatics, games and arts and crafts to assist residents to develop interpersonal relationships, to socialize effectively, and to develop confidence needed to participate in group activities. Regulates content of program in accordance with individualized patient capabilities, needs and interests. Organizes and coordinates special outings and may accompany residents on outings. Plan and document a monthly activity event calendar. Participate in assessing and documenting pro-gress charts and periodic reports for medical staff and other members of the treatment team reflecting resident reaction and evidence of progress or regression. Network with community organizations, businesses, schools and individuals to form a solid volunteer program. Participate in planning and implementing inter-nal and external community events.

The Transportation Aide is entrusted with the responsibility of caring for residents during this process while demonstrating compassion, honesty, integrity, respect. The individual is to provide responsible healthcare and supervision of the residents in your care.

Critical Functions:

Full or part time. Delegated the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability necessary for carrying out assigned duties. Responsible for providing assistance /escorting residents traveling to and from determined locations such as medical providers for care and or outings. Providing safe travel by driving in a safe and responsible manner in accordance with all laws and providing safety for the resident by using safety equipment properly such as lifts, seatbelts, securing wheelchairs gait belts and using proper body mechanics. Demonstrate awareness of procedures in the event of any type of accident or injury.
